BusinessWeek Ranks Las Cruces #8 in New Growth!
An interesting article was published last week in BusinessWeek, ranking Las Cruces #8 of 20 Strongest Building Markets. The article discusses several markets around the nation where growth is happening, despite the economic downturn nationwide.
From the article:
BusinessWeek teamed up with Costa Mesa (Calif.)-based Hanley Wood Market Intelligence to rank the nation’s strongest building markets. They found booming metros where military, government, and energy jobs—as well as natural disasters—are driving up demand for new construction.
Though the actual article doesn’t mention Las Cruces in its full text, it does discuss the reasons for growth in many other cities around the nation; and many of them are the same reasons that Las Cruces has continued to experience less of an impact from the downturn than many other cities. They cite military growth in some of the leading cities - and of course, White Sands Missile Range and nearby Ft. Bliss Army Base are both growing and will continue to do so; driving growth in the military sector of our city. As mentioned in their slide show detailing each city, Las Cruces has had a huge increase in multi-family building permits.
